Our clients are operating in tough economic times, and it is our job to work with them to make a difference and fulfil their responsibility to their stakeholders. From the outset, you’ll spend most of your time on site with clients, across a variety of sectors, as part of an audit team, to get a real insight into how they work.
You’ve got to get stuck in and build relationships with clients quickly, asking the questions that really cut to the heart of their business in order to really understand the risk.
What also sets us apart is the sheer variety of the work. Our extensive client base covers business of all sizes and sectors. Assignments range from a few days to eight weeks, so you’re always moving forward professionally, meeting new challenges and gaining valuable experience.
You’ll hit the ground running, and it can be a pretty challenging experience since you’ll be studying and doing hands-on audit work; examining company accounts, carrying out audit tests, attending stock takes and completing audit files. Some offices also offer the chance to specialise in public sector audit, where you’ll deal with government departments, local authorities, state agencies and not-for-profit organisations.
By the end of your three years' training you’ll have an ACA, ACCA, CA or CIPFA qualification, plus all the real-world skills needed to start leading teams on your own assignments.
Your learning and professional qualification with Grant Thornton is pretty much your ticket to go anywhere within the organisation. This includes secondments abroad or to different parts of our business, which can give you the scope to widen your business knowledge and experience.
